Cinco Patricios is world's first Irish-owned tequila brand, founded in 2025 and ulously produced in Jalisco, Mexico from 100% blue weber agave by fifth generation maestros tequileros.

The name honours the Los San Patricios — the St. Patrick's Battalion — a unit of mostly Irish immigrant soldiers who, during the Mexican-American War of 1846, crossed the lines and fought for Mexico. Led by John Riley of Clifden, County Galway (the 3 brand founders hometown), they recognised in Mexico a Catholic nation facing a larger power, and chose to defend it. They fought under a green banner bearing the Irish harp and a shamrock. Most were killed or captured; those who survived were branded as deserters by one country and remembered as heroes by another. In Mexico, the San Patricios are still commemorated every year on St. Patrick's Day, and streets and schools carry their name.

That shared history — Éire, México, 1846 — is what the brand is built on. It is not a marketing device borrowed for the shelf; it is a real point of connection between two countries with a genuine affinity and kinship for one another, and it gives a bar team or a retailer something worth telling a customer.

In its first year of trading the brand took a Silver Medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition. In Ireland, Cinco Patricios is stocked nationally through national wholesalers including Classic Drinks, BWG, J&C Kenny, Letts and Galvins & Sons, with a strong presence in the premium on-trade. The brand entered its first international market — New York and New Jersey — in August 2026, supported by a US importer and distributer with a dedicated sales team on the ground, and will enter the United Kingdom in early 2027. A Reposado and an Añejo, are in development alongside a canned RTD range.
