Why work with us

MMG Ocean has also developed patented safety gangway systems for secure and compliant crew transfer in Offshore Wind, Aquaculture, Passenger Ferries, the Naval Sectors, and Fishing.

These patented gangway systems facilitate compliant and safe crew and passenger transfer across all staged of the tide – staying within +/- 55 degrees (30 degrees for passenger craft). This is achieved through a combination of the patented hinge system and the proprietary step profile developed by MMG Ocean.

MMG has established a strategic and investment collaboration with Ocean Kinetics, Shetland. They are collectively investing in expansion of facilities in Killybegs and Kirkwall – in addition to existing facilities in Lerwick and Aberdeen.

MMG Ocean is working with global companies like Njord Offsore, X Ocean, Svitzer Tugs, OCEA Shipyard, DEME Offshore Renewables, and this list is growing rapidly as customers benefit from the growing design and prototyping expertise of the company, and the collective strength and capacity of the MMG Ocean – Ocean Kinetics collaboration.

MMG completed Design, Prototype and Fabrication. XOCEAN is establishing a global market leading position in the use of Uncrewed Surface Vessels (USVs), to provide turnkey ocean data: from mapping the seabed to environmental monitoring, XOCEAN offers a safe, economic and carbon neutral solution to ocean data delivery – in offshore wind, asset management, fishing, etc. Increasingly, this work involves the gathering of data on sites that are further offshore – slipway launch and retrieval is impractical, requiring launch and retrieval from the deck of large offshore support vessels. To prevent damage during launch & retrieval offshore XOCEAN required a protective LARS. Remotely operated vessels deployed from LARS will be operating globally. Generation 1 was designed and prototyped in 2022. Based on extensive operational testing on projects, XOCEAN and MMG Ocean have developed LARS Generation 2 in early 2024

Svitzer Tugs Design – Prototype – Fabricate A compliant safe gangway for the new revolutionary Transverse Tug fleet, to deliver optimum crew safety. MMG Ocean has collaborated with Svitzer, the world’s leading tug operators, on the design, prototyping and production of a custom – designed gangway for Svitzer Transverse. Transverse is Svitzer’s new tug design, and the entire Svitzer fleet will be replaced with this new versatile and more sustainable design. Svitzer is also seeking to reach new heights in relation to crew safety, with the Transverse Gangway. The design phase progressed in parallel with tug design throughout mid-2021 to mid-23. The MMG Transverse gangway prototype was produced in late 2023 and fitted in early 2024 – and all function testing and crew acceptance testing has been entirely successful. This now delivers optimum crew safety for all Transverse crew.
