Bold Donut is on a mission to scale the adoption of climate friendly behaviours by making them accessible and easy to adopt. Instead of focusing on the ‘doom and gloom’ that is prevalent, Bold Donut focuses on positivity and fun as a means of scaling engagement and activation.

Bold Donut works with businesses who are looking to shift employees behaviours to more sustainable ones like segregating their waste, using reusable cups or using energy more efficiently. Bold Donut's bite-sized and games-based approach makes introducing typically boring topics like waste fun, competitive and easy to learn.

Our Waste Game has been used by banks, consultancies and universities in both Ireland and the UK to engage and educate employees and students on waste-segregation and reuse.

How KPMG Ireland doubled its waste knowledge

November 2023 - January 2024

KPMG Ireland was looking for a new way to engage and activate their employees with the introduction of a new bin system, a way that was fun, innovative and competitive. They used the customised Bold Donut Waste Game to catch its employees attention and educate them on the new bins policies in a positive and bite-sized way. Over the Christmas period, the game achieved the following results: - Average of 3m8sec playtime per session - long enough to learn but not too distracting! - +100% increase in waste knowledge - 65% of players erroneously put Christmas Crackers in the recycling bin instead of the General bin

How ESB Networks educated over 1,500 customers on demand flexibility with the Bold Donut energy game

May 2024 -

ESB Networks are responsible for delivering electricity safely and reliably to 2.4 million customers across Ireland. In December 2024, ESB Networks partnered with Bold Donut to pilot an innovative solution to the challenge of engaging households with demand flexibility initiatives and increasing overall energy literacy. - Players were engrossed for an average of 6min54sec per session - 82% of players said they learnt something from the game - Players gave the game a 4.3/5 star rating The partnership continues in 2025 with a national rollout of the game to all ESB Networks customers.
